Today we had in the class a lecture held by Juan
Vázquez, a teacher of our university who works with autistics and Asperger
people, about other kinds of communication that are used by these people.
Those who suffer these syndromes are not able to
establish a normal relationship or even conversations with others. We already
knew about this simple fact, but what we deepened into was on the neurological
field. They have an excess of neurological branches. Those branches should have
been split when learning on our first two years of life but in their cases it
did not happen.
That is why they cannot receive more than one message,
nor more than one communication channel as otherwise, they will not be able to
catch anything and they could even suffer a bad reaction to it. For instance,
we cannot make a draw to them while we are explaining something, they would not
be able to focus neither on one thing nor in the other. Apart from that, they
need a relaxing environment, and their surroundings must be a stable place: the
first day they get into a place they would need it to remain like that.
Finally,
talking about the most related thing with communication skills, they do not
feel the necessity to chat with their peers. They can deal with living without
friends. However, it is advisable to talk to them having in mind the previous
theory. That is why we should go step by step with them, giving only essential
information through one only channel until one day we could reach a common
relationship.

That was a great report about the speech we had! That was really helpful to me in order to understand much better the way those persons feel and live. We definitely should try to make their lives easier.
